Note:

Glenn Brown is one of Britain’s most revered contemporary artists. This etching, The Artist’s Father, is similar to much of Brown’s drawing, painting, sculpture and printmaking work in that it takes as its source material reproduced imagery from Art History, blending it with diverse stylistic modes, artistic periods, and even preconceptions of good and bad taste. In the present work, Brown appropriates the 17th century Dutch Golden Age painter and printmaker Jan Livens and his 1631 etching, Bust of an Old Man Wearing a Fur Cap, while exploring the expressive potential of flowing, etched lines filled with fluid, calligraphic energy.

Please note the image size of this work is 6 1/8 x 4 1/2 inches (15.5 x 11.4 cm)
